Waterproofing around the shape of your roof

Liquid systems are applied to form a continuous waterproof layer. They can be useful around rooflights, corners, upstands and penetrations where the details need careful attention. Avent is a MonoSeal approved applicator and also works with Tecnopol Desmopol systems. We identify the proposed product in your quotation.

The roof beneath the coating matters

A coating should not conceal an unsuitable base. We consider the existing covering, signs of trapped moisture, the deck, drainage and the details around the perimeter. Some roofs need stripping and rebuilding; others may be suitable for an agreed overlay specification. An assessment is needed before choosing between them.

MonoSeal and Tecnopol Desmopol

MonoSeal is a hand-applied waterproofing membrane from Prokol. Desmopol is Tecnopol’s liquid membrane range. These are distinct products with their own application requirements. Product selection, preparation, reinforcement where required and finishing layers must follow the chosen specification. We will explain which system is proposed and why it suits the roof.

Small domestic roofs deserve the same care as larger projects. We discuss how the roof joins the house, the height of the waterproofing at doorways and rooflights, and where rainwater drains. Tell us if the space beneath is heated or if you plan to change the way it is used.

What your quotation should explain

The written quotation should identify the preparation, proposed build-up, roof details, access and exclusions. Any manufacturer warranty is specific to the product and installation requirements; its duration and conditions are confirmed for your work. Free quotations for roofing works are separate from a commissioned condition report.
