Repair the defect or renew the roof?

A missing tile does not automatically mean a new roof. We look at the local problem and the wider condition of the covering, fixings and associated details. If a repair is sensible, the quotation can focus on that. If deterioration is widespread, we explain why a replacement may be a better longer-term option.

Slipped tiles, damaged slates and recurring leaks

Tell us where water appears, when it happens and what has already been repaired. The visible defect and surrounding covering need to be assessed together, including nearby flashings and junctions. The covering needs to suit the pitch, roof shape and supporting structure. Matching an existing roof also involves size, profile and appearance. Share any plans or requirements you already have so the proposed material can be considered before ordering. We do not assume that a heavier covering can replace a lighter one without assessment.

The details at the edges and junctions

Ridges, hips, valleys, eaves and chimney flashings all contribute to a weather-resistant roof. A quotation for renewal should explain whether underlay, battens, ventilation and associated leadwork are included. Guttering and access are worth considering at the same stage so related work can be planned together.
